Project Introduction
Lisk is a blockchain infrastructure designed for easy use by the general public and for developers to build decentralized applications.
Project Vision
It aims to be a decentralized application platform running on the side chain.
Market Demand
Existing blockchain solutions, such as Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin(BTC), have very limited ability to transfer data. This makes them sluggish and unable to process large volumes of transactions. Bitcoin, for example, can only handle five to 10 transactions per second. In addition, Ethereum only processes 15 to 20 transactions per second. In this case, if more than 20 people try to play a game simultaneously, a blockchain-based gaming platform will crash.
Solution
LISK was the first decentralized application solution written entirely in JS. This opens up a whole new frontier for ecology and developers. Any Web developer already familiar with JavaScript and Node.js can immediately move to developing decentralized applications from the start.
Project Implementation Mechanism
The Lisk ecosystem consists of main and side chains. The main chain will act as a blockchain hub for the side chain. The Lisk Foundation provides various tools to create decentralized side-chain applications (DApps). These tools include: Lisk Hub is an all-in-one solution that allows users to manage LSK tokens. Interestingly, Lisk Hub will provide its own decentralized exchange (DEX) functionality for cryptocurrencies. DEX will allow users to convert currency via Lisk Hub. Lisk Core allows advanced technology users to access Lisk's primary network blockchain data. This allows developers to create commercial applications for Lisk. Lisk Mobile is a smartphone wallet with features like Face ID and Touch ID. Lisk elements are an open source collection of libraries that contain the building blocks of the Lisk system.
Token Usage Scenarios
LSK tokens are used to pay gas fees for governance voting, equity pledge and licensing, simple token transactions and smart contract execution.
Algorithm
Like Bitstock, Steem, and EOS, Lisk uses the dPoS consensus algorithm. There are 101 representatives acting as block producers. Delegates are elected through blockchain voting. The number of votes allocated to each account is equal to the number of LSKS it has. Block production takes turns, with 101 delegates producing one block per turn. Lisk supports block generation in 10 seconds, rewarding 4 LSKS per block generation. 10 second blocks, which means over 12 million LSK will be awarded to delegates in a year. The initial supply is LSK 100 million and the annual inflation rate is over 12%.
Characteristic
Reduce the development threshold of side chain technology: solve the problem of difficulty and high cost of developers side chain development. The project positioning is clear: in the side chain segment market, combined with its own experienced team, to obtain sufficient advantages in this field. Provide advanced application functions, develop side link browser, ensure side link security, provide smart contract and third party technical support.
Technical Characteristics
1. It is convenient for developers to build dApp in the side chain, while ensuring the security of SLK token. 2. Developers can freely customize their own side chain specifications, parameters and transaction types, and even develop their own tokens based on this. But there is no evidence that side-chain technology is actually possible. 3.JavaScript: Lisk is built on JavaScript, and the obvious advantage of Lisk as a smart contract language is to leverage the vast ecosystem of JavaScript developers that currently exists. Reinforces the goal of making Lisk easy to get started and quickly develop applications.
Incentive Mechanism
Proof-of-interest DPoS maps the US electoral system onto a blockchain. Token holders elect trustees, who are tasked with confirming transactions and generating blocks. Here, the word "generation" can be roughly equated with "mining." The trustee will generate a block, and will receive the corresponding reward coin reward and the fees included in the block transaction. Often, the trustee shares his harvest with his constituents through so-called "kickback payments". To participate in trustee or "supernode" elections, only a one-time fee of 25 Lisks is currently required. In each election of the Lisk network, 101 active trustees are elected.
Competitors
One of Lisk's smart contract concepts is the use of side chains. Lisk relies on third-party multi-signature solutions to evaluate code and authorize transactions. With STEEM and Bitshares, developers can implement smart contracts in the same way. The main difference is that they use C++ instead of JavaScript. Steem has one major advantage that no other smart contract platform has: free transactions. This means that anyone can implement a side-chain "smart contract plug-in" without having to worry about the cost of the contract.
Points
LSK this project has been controversial since the beginning of the birth, first adopted the dpos consensus puts the main high performance, but also sacrifice a great deal of decentralized attribute, the number of cash and 101 nodes by competitors, in front of a large, the odds were against retail investors will be able to win, is a strong stronger consensus model. On the other hand, the main project of the side chain network development has been called for several years, but it has not been online so far. I do not know whether it is the technical failure of the development team or the difficulty of development. In addition, the cross-chain technology is becoming more and more mature, so I feel that the market space of the second-line public chain in the future is relatively limited.
Project Risk
Lisk was separated from the Crypti project in January 2016. The main network won't be up until June 2018, two and a half years later. Lack of technical detail Lisk does not have a white paper, which is unusual for cryptocurrency projects. And the major sites are conspicuously missing information about Lisk technology implementation and side chain maintenance. Centralized and secure side chain Side chain owners can withdraw their commitment to use side chain LSK at any time. This means that users of the side chain are at risk of the side chain owner unilaterally withdrawing all LSKS from the side chain. In this case, the user's funds are at risk. This risk can be mitigated by using a side chain with custom tokens, but this depends on the concentration of its consistency algorithm. Concentrated side chains are easy to manipulate.
Values
Lisk, also known as App Chain, is a side chain development project. The feature of the project is that it can quickly build a customizable private chain through the SDK toolkit, and obtain consensus security through the LISK main chain. The main network of the project adopts the consensus mode similar to pomelo DPOS super node, which has the advantages of fast transaction confirmation speed and high TPS. The disadvantage is that participation in consensus requires a large number of tokens pledged, which is difficult for ordinary users to participate. LSK as its platform token is used to pay for governance voting, equity pledge and authorization as well as simple token trading and smart contract execution of gas. Its value is supported by the capture of transaction costs. Lisk is currently moving slowly, and it's up to the project to realize its vision.
