Project Introduction
Enjin is the largest online game community creation platform, with games focusing on content management systems and forum creators, each community store selling millions of dollars of virtual goods per month. An attempt is being made to transform existing businesses with blockchain, with the launch of "graccoins" that allow players, content creators and game publishers to add virtual goods and provide value to games and communities.
Project Vision
It aims to tokenize items in the game, so that game items can be traded between players, so that players really have the ownership of game assets.
Market Demand
ENJ mainly solves the following market pain points: 1. Fraudulent behaviors in the process of virtual prop trading. It is said that behind every successful virtual prop transaction, there are 7.5 fraudulent transactions; 2. High cost and slow transaction. At present, most virtual prop transactions rely on third-party trading platforms, which are cumbersome to operate and receive a high percentage from the platforms. 3. Players have no real ownership of virtual items, nor can they guarantee the scarcity of such items; 4. Virtual items and currencies between different games cannot be circulated; 5. Currently, the value measurement standard of game assets is missing, and users cannot predict the value of game props in advance; 6. Users cannot generate real value rewards by producing content for the game (e.g. walkthroughs, tutorials);
Solution
Enjin aims to provide solutions to some of the problems in the video game industry. One of the problems stems from the fact that the ecosystem of indie games -- even games within a large publisher network -- remains separate from the rest. As a result, when you get a sword in one game, you can't move the item or interact with it in any other way in the second video game. Also, even if they buy or earn these items, the player has no real ownership of their in-game assets, as the publisher can block their account and prevent them from accessing the item at any time. In addition, since most publishers allow players to exclusively purchase in-game assets from official stores at their price, users cannot sell what they buy or legally acquire while playing video games.
Project Implementation Mechanism
Enjin tried to solve the problem by tokenizing the assets in the game and using the project's native token, ENJ. Through ENJ tokenization, these items are automatically converted into ERC-1155 tokens, an Ethereum-based token standard that allows creators to issue fungible and non-fungible tokens through a single smart contract. This process is called minting, and it allows developers to transform almost anything in the video game ecosystem -- from weapons, mounts, and armor to planets, characters, and even the actual game itself. Each project created on the Enjin platform requires ENJ injection during the process of "casting (minting)". For different uses, developers have a number of options to customize the casting process, including the number of ENJs, transfer fees, and "melt down" values locked into each asset. Melting is different from burning. Melting is the reverse process of casting, where virtual assets are reduced to ENJ tokens
Token Usage Scenarios
Enjin's main purpose is to allow users to manage and store virtual items in the game. These items include in-game currency and tokens that represent unique in-game items, such as swords or character accessories. To create and destroy in-game items, developers need to complete the following five steps: 1. Coin: developers use the ENJ purchased to design items in the game; 3. Game: Players get tokens and use tokens to achieve various functions in the game; 4. Trading: players exchange tokens with each other; 5. Smelt: ENJ where the player sells tokens.
Algorithm
The ERC-1155 standard pioneered by Enjin combines the strengths of traditional standards and addresses the pain point: existing token standards require separate smart contracts for each item type (i.e., shields, skins, potions, dragon babies, etc.). Today, video games have hundreds of thousands of items in some cases. Requiring game studios to create a smart contract for each item would be expensive and difficult to manage, and the blockchain would be hard to support. Erc-1155 allows a smart contract to produce and manage an unlimited number of item items. As a result, it's much easier for game studios to create, track, and manage projects, plus they can save up to 90% on gas bills. Existing token standards require multiple steps to complete atomic exchanges (swapping one cryptocurrency for another without an intermediate party). Each additional item added to a transaction requires an additional step in the entire process. Erc-1155 can swap any token in just 2 steps.
Characteristic
ENJ features: 1. It can be directly used inside the game to purchase various game assets. Since it is used within the game, it is not necessary to use the third-party trading platform, but can directly use the existing system such as the game's original prop mall and trading, which saves the development cost, reduces the waiting time for goods to be delivered to the account, and greatly reduces the fraud risk brought by the third-party exchange. 2. Can be used in different games. Assets acquired in the previous game can be converted into grace coins, which can be used in the next game. 3. Boon gold is still in practice and has become a standard for measuring the value of different game assets. Users can easily judge the value of boon gold by comparing the price of different assets. 4. Boon coins can be used as an incentive mechanism for player communities and forums to encourage players to produce relevant content, which can improve the user engagement of the game, especially for sandbox games, and stimulate players' enthusiasm for creation.
Technical Characteristics
The item standard of ERC-1155 is the most widely used NFT standard after ERC-721. More and more relatively big-budget blockchain games have added Enjin's multiuniverse gameplay and adopted ERC-1155 as their NFT standard.
Market Commentary
1. Enjin is an existing product that integrates cryptocurrency and blockchain capabilities into an already existing community of over 20 million gamers worldwide. ENJ is an ERC-20 token with extensive transaction/wallet support, and Enjin also supports ERC-1155 smart contracts for true tokenization of video game assets (whether fungifiable or not). 3. Enjin's partners include Samsung, Unity, PC Gamer, and several video game competitive brands, which has helped them attract dozens of game developers through a planned blockchain-based release.
