Algorand

Algorand is a decentralized blockchain network platform intended to solve the dilemma of implementing speed, security and decentralization of blockchain triangle. Launched in June 2019 by computer scientist Silvio Micali, a professor at THE Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Algorand is a permissionless open source blockchain network that anyone can build on. Algorand is committed to being a payment-centric network with Fast transactions and a strong focus on achieving near-instant Finality. Algorand is able to process over 1,000 transactions per second (TPS) and finalize transactions in less than five seconds. 
Algorand proof of use (PoS) Consensus mechanism and distributes verifier rewards to all holders of its native ALGO cryptocurrency. With strong throughput capabilities and fair community incentives, Algorand is able to manage high throughput requirements for widespread use and a wide variety of use cases worldwide. 
 As a public smart contract Staking depends on Staking, Algorand is currently able to host decentralized application (dApp) development and provide scalability. ALGO is the native Algorand cryptocurrency, Is the cornerstone of its network structure. As part of Algorand's unique protocol design, rewards paid to the verifier's production blocks are distributed and distributed among all ALGO token holders, rather than just to the block producers. That means that as of February 2021, All ALGO token holders can get an annual return of about 7.5% (APY). Rewards are distributed approximately every 10 minutes to encourage users to join the Algorand pledge platform and accelerate the path to decentralization. 
 Instead of actually "mortgaging" tokens during block production and validation, users can simply save ALGO in an unmanaged wallet or exchange for the rewards they earn. In this sense, Algorand has achieved near-automation, as pledgers can passively hold ALGO while supporting the network.

Silvio Micali has been on the faculty of the MIT Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science since 1983. His research interests are cryptography, zero-knowledge, pseudo-random generation, security protocols, mechanism design, and blockchain. It is worth mentioning that Silvio is also the co-inventor of probabilistic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs, verifiable random functions, and many basic protocols for modern cryptography. In 2017, Silvio founded Algorand, a fully decentralized, secure and scalable blockchain that provides a universal platform for products and services for building a borderless economy. Silvio is responsible for all research at Algorand including theory, security and crypto-finance. Silvio has won the Turing Award (computer science), the Gödel Award (theoretical computer science) and the RSA Award (cryptography). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences of Italy. Silvio received an honorary doctorate in mathematics from the University of Rome and a PhD in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Steve is Algorand&#39;s CEO and is responsible for overall business vision and strategy. He is a serial entrepreneur. Most recently, he was co-founder and executive chairman of Fuze, where he was also responsible for corporate strategy. Under his guidance, the company has transformed the way the enterprise views collaboration as a key driver of business visibility, with process improvement and results as key drivers. Today, Fuze has more than 700 employees and serves more than 1,500 enterprise customers around the world. Prior to joining Fuze, Steve was co-founder of BladeLogic, Inc., a recognized leader in the data center automation market with a Fortune 500 customer list including GE, Time Warner, Microsoft, Cable &amp; Wireless, Walmart, and Spring t wait. Bladelogic had a successful initial public offering and was subsequently acquired by BMC Software for approximately $800 million. Prior to joining BladeLogic, Steve was co-founder and CEO of Web Yes, Inc., an early market leader in web hosting and application service providers, providing infrastructure for Sun Microsystems, Netscape, and Lycos, among others.
